I have a widget which allows me to do this quickly and easily. I have searched online but have only found it for macintosh computers. If you have a pc, you might search the net yourself. The widget will be called something like "Image Upload Widget".

Failing that, because James has set up our site to prevent people accidentally posting pictures which are ponderously big, you need to register with photobucket or imageshack and upload your picture to your personal album there first. This will allow you to reduce the size of the picture to about, say, 200Kb to 500Kb if you need to, and then copy the url they provide for you.

The url will look like this:

Click on copy url and then go back to your Phoenix post and click on your caps lock and type [IMG]

... then paste the url after

What you will now see is this:

You can see if it has worked without posting by clicking on Preview Post. The picture will be there in all its glory, unlike the thumbnails.

Sign up with one of those sites (they are free) and give it a go. You obviously know how to reduce your pictures to a reasonable size to post, so it will do no harm and we are all keen to see the results.

Tks Trish - I have managed to copy the URL on the "Manage Photos" window as you suggested BUT it doesn't seem to upload - I am using Photobucket.

Needless to say, I am inexpert!

Will keep trying options.

Cheers

OK. I've been on Photobucket and figured it out. The site has been updated since I was last there.

Open a new tab in your internet browser window. (Probably under File)

Log in to Photbucket in this new tab. You can now toggle back and forward between the POG and Photobucket without logging out of either.

Click once on your chosen picture. This opens it up larger.

Click once on "Share" on the grey bar along the top of your picture.

Click once on "Get link code"

See "IMG for bulletin boards & forums"? Click on the type in the "Full size" url box, hold down Control on your keyboard and type "c" (for copy). This will copy the url with the image instructions included.

Then go to the POG post you are writing, click in it and again holding Control, type "z" (for paste).

Then to satisfy yourself that the picture will mount, check "Preview Post". If you can't see "Preview Post" you should click on "Go advanced" and it will bring up the smilies and preview button.

If you aren't happy with where your picture is in your post, you can highlight the url and click and drag it wherever you want or paste it again in a different place. That url code will always be the same for that picture unless you tamper with it, move it within Photobucket or delete it from there altogether.

If your picture comes up huge, ie bigger than the window, don't use it. They are the size pictures that clog up a thread. Your eagle shot was a nice small one and would do no harm. You can reduce pictures or crop in on the interesting bits when you are looking at your album in Photobucket. Choose which picture you want to edit and click on "Edit". All the tools you may need will be there and are user-friendly.

Please excuse me describing in detail little things that you already know, but it may help others with less experience than yourself.
Trish

Many tks Trish - you will note I finally succeeded in posting that wedgetail shot (metaphorically speaking) - I had been so close - in fact, I only succeeded when I copied the URL on Photobucket, then reverted to POG post site, and clicked on "Insert Link" icon and 'pasted' - no doubt I should always have done that???
If I followed your instruction to copy, then hit 'control' and "Z", it still did not work - was trying to copy to 'Manager Attachments' in the top box next to 'browse'.

No doubt you are aware I am technically bankrupt when it comes to PC's/internet etc!

Keep up the good work for us all!

Cheers

Al
